About Olivia

Olivia, also known as Mikayla O. Faulkner, is a South-based writer with a decade of writing experience. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, but grew up in Jackson, Mississippi. After reading “God Help the Child” by Toni Morrison in high school, Olivia fell in love with words and writing. Since then, she has started writing her own poems and short stories capturing her perspective of the world around her. Throughout her time in school, Olivia explored many different writing styles while reading the works of many notable authors. She enjoys the writings of Zora Neale Hurston, James Baldwin, and Edgar Allan Poe.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Olivia spent lots of time building her portfolio with freelance work. With the desire to write more creative work and connect more closely with her clients, she decided to start her own website, Olivia’s Desk. She named the business using the name her late father gave her- Olivia.
